Stäubenkapelle

The Stäuben Chapel is surrounded by an impressive backdrop: A rock pulpit sits enthroned beneath it, framed by tall pine trees. A pine tree with an image of the Virgin Mary once stood here. This image was later preserved in the form of the altar in the same place. The faithful built the chapel around the dying pine tree to protect themselves from the Wilerplanggen avalanche. The circular adventure trail leads to the chapel in about an hour and offers a picnic area to stop along the way.
