Media release, 16 October 2023

Andermatt-Sedrun-Disentis, 16.10.2023 - The municipalities of Andermatt, Tujetsch and Disentis, together with the tourism organisations, the mountain railways and Andermatt Swiss Alps AG, have taken an important step to promote the long-term growth of the Andermatt-Sedrun-Disentis region. Thus, a joint development strategy is to be drawn up and forward-looking measures defined in order to strengthen the region's tourist attractiveness and competitiveness both in winter and in summer.

The three municipalities of Andermatt, Tujetsch and Disentis, together with the two mountain railways Andermatt-Sedrun Sport AG (ASS) and the mountain railways Disentis AG (BD), the tourism organisations Andermatt-Urserntal Tourismus GmbH (AUT) and Sedrun Disentis Tourismus SA (SDT) as well as Andermatt Swiss Alps AG (ASA), have formed a strategic committee with the aim of drawing up a comprehensive development strategy for the Andermatt-Sedrun-Disentis region.

The aim of this coordination is to guide and coordinate the long-term growth of the Andermatt-Sedrun-Disentis region. In doing so, the existing strategies pursued by the main stakeholders in the region are taken into account. In order to elaborate and coordinate the development strategy, a working group was set up in addition to the strategic committee. These two bodies have now been legitimised by the consent of all stakeholders in the Andermatt-Sedrun-Disentis region to elaborate the development strategy and define implementation measures.

The 4-member working group is composed as follows: Peter Baumann, President of the Municipality of Andermatt (representative of the municipalities), Thomas Christen, Tourism Director Andermatt-Urserntal Tourismus GmbH (representative of both tourism organisations), Matthias Furrer, Head of Destination Operations & Development Andermatt Swiss Alps AG and Pascal Schär, Head of Marketing Andermatt-Sedrun-Disentis Marketing AG (representative of the two mountain railways).

The first concrete implementation measures for 2024 include the development of a new comprehensive destination website that combines the offers of AUT, SDT and the mountain railways ASS and BD. Furthermore, the positioning of the Andermatt-Sedrun-Disentis region will be sharpened and the responsibilities for the defined, strategic business areas clarified. In addition, the development strategy in the first phase will focus on the holistic financing of mobility offers, the coordination of regional infrastructure planning, the increase of the attractiveness of the location and the digitalisation of experiences and offers along the entire experience chain.

With the newly created structure, all partners contribute to the holistic further development of the Andermatt-Sedrun-Disentis destination.
