Description
Up to Alp Plaun Barcuns, pines, stone pines, birches, larches, rowan and blueberry bushes line our path. We hear the babbling of small streams and in between the call of the fir cock. It picks the arrow nuts out of the cones, stows them in large numbers in its throat pouch under its tongue and transports them to storage hiding places. The remains of the cones are left lying around.
Above the hut, the forest gradually thins out and the terrain becomes rockier. Crossing pastures and small streams, we reach the hut Stavel Sut from where we descend into Val la Buora. The wild waters of the "Glatscher Davos la Buora" have created a wide and stony stream bed here. It is a very wild and primeval landscape.
The path now climbs gently through a forest to Alp Puzzetta where we are surprised by a modern, red building. Up to 300 dairy goats and 4-6 herdsmen and helpers spend the summer here. For the descent to Fuorns, we choose the somewhat steep, direct hiking trail along the lower lying glacier stream.
