Grimsel Pass

2,165 m above sea level / Innertkirchen - Gletsch

The Grimsel Pass connects Meiringen in the Bernese Oberland with Gletsch in Valais. The journey through the wild, barren mountain landscape will inspire you. In addition to granite rock, reservoirs and power stations characterise the landscape in one of the richest mineral regions in the Alps. Marvel at the rock crystals in the Strahlermuseum in Guttannen. A ride on Europe's steepest funicular railway, the Gelmerbahn, is also worth a trip.

Tip: Gelmer railway

A ride on the Gelmer railway guarantees thrills. With a gradient of up to 106 per cent in places, it is the steepest funicular railway in Europe. Once at the mountain station, we recommend a leisurely hike around the turquoise-coloured Gelmer Lake.
