Description
This varied walk heads west from Disentis train station to the Sontga Gada chapel. This solitary chapel, which dates back to the 11th century, was renovated in 1420 and is a reminder of the Saracen invasion in 940. The 15th century frescoes are well worth seeing. Follow the wide path down to the Rhine and Cuflons, where there is a lovely barbecue spot. We recommend sitting down and listening to the water for a few minutes before crossing the bridge that dates back to Roman times. The trail along the Rhine is particularly fascinating. Through the trees you can see into the streambed with its eroded potholes. Follow the Lukmanier Pass road until you reach your destination of Fontanivas. This place offers everything you need for a sunny summer's day: bathing lake, water playground, restaurant and plenty of space in which to relax. Refreshed and rested, you can return to the train station, walking part of the route between well-maintained dry stone walls. The entire route can be navigated with a kid's off-road buggy.
