Sustainability

Nature conservation and environmental protection are important to us. That is why we are committed to climate protection, so that future generations can also enjoy snowy winters.

Andermatt Responsible

Andermatt Responsible is the campaign for climate-friendly and sustainable tourism in the Andermatt region. Our goal is to enable resource-conserving tourism operations. This is because we are convinced that it is in the interest of all of us to protect the Swiss mountains.

Reducing energy consumption

Running a ski resort is energy-intensive - we need water, electricity and fuel. In cooperation with the Act Cleantech Agency Switzerland, we have set target agreements and taken measures to reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions. Participating sites have exceeded the target agreements made with Act every year since 2015. Act energy efficiency certificate

Use renewable energy

In addition to reducing energy consumption, the origin of the energy is also important to us. The electrical energy from our suppliers Elektrizitätswerk Ursern and Energia Alpina is sourced 100 percent from renewable sources. The companies operate hydroelectric power plants and wind turbines in the region.

Intelligent snow making

The majority of Andermatt-Sedrun Sport AG's snowmaking systems were installed with the expansion of the ski area and meet today's standards in terms of efficiency and effectiveness in technical snowmaking. Older snowmaking systems will be replaced in the coming years and the new equipment will be integrated into the existing snowmaking management system. With the introduction of the SnowSat system for measuring snow depth, Andermatt-Sedrun Sport AG can offer guests perfect slopes and at the same time protect the environment by only producing as much artificial snow as is actually needed. All pistes have been measured in the meantime and the conversion of the snow groomer fleet is in full swing.

Jobs and training positions

Andermatt-Sedrun Sport AG employs 60 people in the summer season and around 400 in the winter season. Andermatt-Sedrun Sport AG offers an apprenticeship for cable car mechatronics technicians every year and currently employs three apprentices. In this way, the company ensures the next generation of employees for the company and contributes to the maintenance of the Swiss mountain railway industry.

Value creation in the region

By creating and preserving jobs, and by working together with partners, service providers and suppliers in the area, the Andermatt-Sedrun Sport AG is making a sustainable contribution to local value creation.
